CR6 SE PCB Strain Guage Tuning Guide

Created by DREMC STORE, Modified on Sat, 7 Mar at 5:54 PM by DREMC STORE

Achieving perfect first layers on your CR6 SE starts with proper strain gauge tuning. The Community Edition PCB the original piezo sensor but offers enhanced adjustability for fine-tuning trigger force. This guide walks you through using a simple kitchen scale to measure trigger force, manually adjusting Z-axis height, and dialling in sensitivity via the on-board potentiometer to achieve the optimal 160-gram trigger point for reliable, consistent bed levelling. This guide is also applicable for stock PCB assembly as well.

Tuning Guide:

Tuning the strain gauge:

Place the kitchen scale on the build plate as shown below and tare it.

The home command can be used to test how much force it takes to trigger the strain gauge. The strain gauge should trigger at around 160 grams of force. When the home command is not accurate enough lower the Z-axis by slowly turning the lead screws

The strain gauge sensitivity can be adjusted by rotating the potentiometer\

Clockwise: Reduce the sensitivity (more grams of force to trigger

Counter-clockwise: Increase the sensitivity (less grams of force to trigger)
The potentiometer is very sensitive, only increase or decrease by very small increments
